Darnis Visits AHI-Carrier Joint Venture in Middle East
Carrier President Geraud Darnis recently visited AHI-Carrier, Carrier’s joint
venture in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). During his visit, Darnis met
with Mr. Abdulla Darwish, a joint venture partner of AHI-Carrier and UTS-Carrier
(UAE). AHI-Carrier, a distribution joint venture between AHI and Carrier, was
formed in 2008 following the merger of AHI and Carrier Middle East Ltd. and was
a key transaction in Carrier’s business transformation strategy.
AHI-Carrier is engaged in the sales and distribution of Carrier and Toshiba
brand products in more than 40 countries including Russia, central and eastern
Europe, Africa and, most recently, Australia and New Zealand.
During the visit, Mr. Darnis and his team were escorted by Qamar Rizvi, CEO of
AHI-Carrier, on a tour of the company’s offices. Later, AHI-Carrier managers
provided a in-depth review of the business. Darnis commended the company’s
business model and complimented the team for effectively managing such a
geographically dispersed and economically and culturally diverse customer base.
Darnis said, “AHI-Carrier has a unique customer-centric business model
consisting of a focused sales force supported by a centralized back office where
sales assistance, engineering, design and other support functions occur.”
Darnis also congratulated the AHI-Carrier team for securing the first two
projects in the Middle East involving recently-launched 19XRD large, centrifugal
chillers – with a total of eight units installed.
